Rick Ward

Ward Performance was founded in 1989 by Rick Ward.  His vision was to provide championship winning engines to motorcycle dragracers. Rick purchased his first CNC machine in 1993, and quickly established himself as the premier cylinder head machinist in the motorcycle industry.

Ward Performance has since solidified this position by manufacturing the Vortex I and Vortex II Cylinder Heads.  These aftermarket cylinder heads are legal for NHRA, AMA and IDBA competition.  Many racers are running a Vortex Cylinder Head, including 2002 champions Angelle Savoie (NHRA Pro Stock Bike Champion), Todd Doege (IDBA Pro Stock Bike Champion), and Larry McBride (Pro Star Top Fuel BikeChampion).

Nobody says it better than our customers:

Larry McBride, who is the only motorcycle racer ever to record a sub six-second quarter mile pass, credits much of his 5.993" @ 243mph run to the quality of the Vortex Cylinder Head manufactured by Ward Performance. In a post-race interview, Larry was asked what he felt the largest contributing factor was in his increased performance.  Larry responded, "No doubt the Ward Performance cylinder head is the biggest advancement, because they make good consistent power, all of the time, and they are so strong they allow us to do more with confidence. There is nothing I can say about them other than they are simply awesome."
